Parkrun celebrated its 15th birthday with lots of runners turning up to mark the occasion.

Barrow had an extra special Parkrun on Saturday, not only celebrating the global Parkrun anniversary, but also its own eighth birthday.

An oak tree was also planted in the park in memory of local running legend Gillian Thompson who recently died.

First for the men was Andrew Dorrian in a speedy 16.48, second was Jack Pedley in 19.43 and third was Christopher Hubbold in 19.48.

First for the ladies was Amy Singleton in 22.59, second was Sarah Bouffler in 23.03 and in third was Laura Leigh in 24.51.

Millom also experienced lots of great running.

First to cross the finish line for the men was Lee Thompsett in 23.44. He was followed by Daniel King in 23.56 who was then followed by Philip Chapman in 24.30.

Taking the first place position for the women was Fiona Bannister in 29.43. She was followed by Hannah Wilson in 32.35, who was then followed by Sarah Pinney in 39.45.

Fell Foot saw lots of fast running from the men this week.

Racing to the first place spot for the men was Alasdair Russell in 16.54, coming into the second place spot was Tom Hartley in 18.29 and taking third place shortly behind Tom was Rory Dowd in 18.37.

First for the female runners was Candice Louise Heys in a very respectable 21.08. In second place was Sarah Ridehalgh in 22.06 and following behind her was Rebekah Beadle in 22.42.

Ulverston’s Ford Parkrun had a great turnout.

Taking the first place spot for the men was Parkrun tourist and first time Ford Parkrun runner Aiden Moyles.

In second place was John Evason with a new personal best of 20.46 and taking the third place position was Robbie Driscoll in 20.51.

For the ladies the first to cross the finish line was Katie Samuelson with a new personal best of 23.20, following behind her was Jessica Bailey in 25.41 and following behind in third was Liz White in 27.15.
