A COMMUNITY came together this weekend to celebrate a care home reaching a major milestone.

Residents in Millom and the surrounding area all gathered at Lapstone House care home over the weekend to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the home opening.

Volunteers from across the community have spent months redesigning the garden and making it more usable for the residents.

Then this weekend over 100 local people celebrated the 50 years since the facility which has looked after local families first opened it's doors.

Sharon Barker, Supervisor at Lapstone House said: "It was an absolutely brilliant event.

"There were hundreds of people there supporting the event.
