A BARROW man stole phone accessories worth £12 from Poundland.
Ian Anthony Wharton pleaded guilty to shoplifting when he appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
Prosecutor Pam Ward told the court that Wharton had visited the Dalton Road store on August 30.
The 43-year-old, represented in court by solicitor Mike Graham, was seen selecting a phone charger, some earphones and a speaker, worth a total of £12.
The court heard that Wharton, of no fixed abode, had a number of previous convictions.
Magistrates fined him £40 for the offence.
The fine will be consolidated to his existing fines account which is taken directly from his benefits.
No order was made for costs because Wharton had been ordered to pay costs when dealt with for another offence on the same day.
The items were recovered so no order was made for compensation to Poundland.
