TOP sax player Snake Davis and local singer-songwriter Chris Bannister share the spotlight tonight at Millom.

Snake - who has collaborated with Heather Small, toured the world with Lisa Stansfield, Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart and played with James Brown, Paul McCartney, George Michael, Tina Turner and Jess Gillam, to name just a few - joins talented local performer Chris for what promises to be a superb night of sax favourites and original songs as part of the Beggar's Theatre's new season.

The following weekend (Saturday, September 21) The La’al Big Band takes to the Beggar's stage. Formed in 2011 by a group of like-minded musicians to provide the region with its own jazz and swing orchestra, the popular band's show is graced with tunes from the Great American Songbook sung by vocalist Deanne Shallcross and plenty of powerhouse ensemble playing from the amazing 17-piece line up.

On October 5, five star stand up comedian Dave Johns brings his From Byker to the Baftas show to the Millom theatre. Dave is best known for his critically acclaimed breakthrough performance in Ken Loaches 2016 Palme D’or and Bafta winning film I Daniel Blake.

Also coming up are two shows by The Noise Next Door, regarded by many as the UK’s premier improv comedy troupe who have taken the comedy world by storm. The boys are back with a new, full length adult evening show The Noise Next Door - Remix on October 11 (8pm), followed the day after (October 12, 1pm) with an epic new show for all the family: The Noise Next Door at Sea, where the adventurous, crazy quartet head for the high seas to chase down the fearsome Captain Bloodbeard.

With much more to come, including comedian Mark Thomas's new show 50 Things About Us (October 26); award-winning singer-songwriter, Hazel O'Connor's Hallelujah Moments with virtuoso saxophonist Clare Hirst and keyboard player, Sarah Fisher (November 14) and Beauty and the Beast (December 4), Beggar's Theatre director Jakki Moore said they're really excited about the new season: "We have tried to bring something for everyone. From kids shows to live comedy and panto to great music. This season is one of our busiest yet; we hope that it works and we keep getting great audiences so we can keep bringing great acts."
