THE wind and rain came in full force last weekend, however, this failed to deter hundreds of parkrunners from taking on the course.

Torrential weather conditions lashed upon Barrow’s parkrunners this week, however, they dug deep to tackle the five kilometre course.

This week 146 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 12 were first timers and six recorded new personal bests.

Barrow parkrun had a triple milestone celebration this week with parkrun tourist Caroline Sanger-Davies, who lives in Lincoln but originally hails from Barrow, celebrating her milestone 100th run.

Her daughters Jasmine and Isabella also celebrated their 10th and 25th runs respectively, making it a family celebration.

For the men this week, Tom Brophy was first to finish in 18.05, Luca Messenger-Jones was second across the line in 18.27 and Ian Sadler took the third finish token at 19.05.

For the ladies, Sandra Garnett was first to just about beat the rain in 22.18, followed by Heather Travis in 22:36 and Janice Callister in 23.29.

Despite the unpleasant conditions, almost 30 parkrunners turned up to tackle the course in Millom.

Brothers Michael and Nathan Mossop landed the two top spots in consecutive times of 20.34 and 21.20. While Lee Thompsett was awarded the third position in a time of 21.45.

Sally Cochrane was the first woman home in 26.49, followed by Holly Singleton in 30.00 and Helen Cooper in 31.46.

More than 60 parkrunners turned up to Ulverston’s weekly parkrun, with junior runner Jessica Bailey securing the top spot in 20.28.

It was a family affair as Jessica’s dad, James, landed the second spot in 20.30 and Jessica’s mum, Joanna coming in third for the women in a time of 25.56.

Andrew Woodhead secured the third spot in 20.32, whilst Rachel Craig-McFeely was the second woman across the line in 24.39.

Fell Foot parkrun saw more than 300 partakers take on the course.

James Penrose was first home in 16.51, followed by Samuel McSherry in 17.09 and Michael Ainsworth in 17.22.

Scout Adkin was the first woman back in 18.10, followed by Rachael Leah in 20.02 and Nicki Davis in 20.31.
