A MAN has been told to pay more than £500 and banned from the road after admitting driving while over the limit.
Stephen Ward, of Compston Street, Ambleside, was stopped by police at Skelwith Bridge on August 2.
The 39-year-old had 72 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
The legal limit is 35mcgs.
He was fined £400 and told to pay £85 costs and a £40 surcharge.
Magistrate also banned him from driving for 20 months, which will be reduced by 20 weeks if he completes a course.
