A MATHS whizz is set to study Economics at Cambridge before hopefully realising his dream of working on New York's Wall Street.

Former Walney School pupil Elliott Stockdale bagged an impressive four A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Business and Accounting.

He also achieved an A in his Extended Project Qualification which is a one-year course which involves writing a 1,000-word dissertation on a subject of your choice.

The 18-year-old was one of Barrow Sixth Form College's highest achievers yesterday when students headed to Furness College's Rating Lane campus to collect their A Level results.

"I set myself the target of getting four A*s two years ago when I started at sixth form because I knew I wanted to go to Cambridge," he said.

"From day one I just worked as hard as I possibly could and always believed in myself that I could do it.

"Since secondary school it's been my dream to work on Wall Street so while I'm at uni I'm hoping to get some internships at banks in London and then hopefully go on from there."

The USA's Wall Street has been the centre of the country's financial industry since the launch of the New York Stock Exchange in 1792.

Located in Lower Manhattan in New York the street acts as the epicentre of the city's Financial District.

Elliott, who lives on Walney, added: "I'm really competitive and I think I would do really well in a fast-paced environment like Wall Street."
