A CHARITY in Barrow is hosting a sponsored charity walk to help raise awareness for people and their families in the community affected by visual impairment and/or dementia.

Barrow and Districts Society for the Blind is running a Four Mounds challenge which is an 11-mile walk from Barrow to Ulverston across Slag Bank, Cenotaph Steps, Cemetery Hill and the Hoad to help fundraise for the charity.

This event is a fun walk not a race and should be carried out at a pace that you are comfortable with.

The group suggests all walkers wear appropriate and comfortable footwear and be aware of potential changing weather conditions.

The walk is open to all ages with all proceeds going to charity.

The event takes place on Saturday August 24 from 11am until 6pm.

Registration closes on August 22 and the event is completely free, with an option of fancy dress.
