The Coastguard was called out after two people became trapped in a car in rising water.
Just before 5pm on Tuesday the Millom Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked with a rescue at Newbiggin, near Eskmeals Viaduct.
Two people had become trapped in a car with water rising round them.
A spokesman for Millom Coastguard Rescue Team said:" The team were stood down shortly after arriving in the station.
"Casualties were rescued by Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service."
