A NEW series of panels promoting culture on heritage along the scenic Furness Line has been unveiled.

Acting as signposts from each railway station, the panels will encourage people to explore important landmarks and visitor points in the local area.

The project is a joint initiative between Morecambe Bay Partnership and Furness Line Community Rail Partnership and has benefitted from the valuable input of many local stakeholders, station adopters, Northern Rail, local councillors and many more.

John Owen, vice chair of Furness Line Community Partnership, cut the ribbon to officially launch the panels at Carnforth station.

The panels offer a fresh incentive to discover or rediscover the unique heritage around Morecambe Bay’s coastline.

Barrow's version features Walney Island, Piel Island, The Dock Museum and Furness Abbey.

A handy ‘window gazer’ leaflet is available at stations.
