A FIESTA of world food is coming to Barrow to take the place of a popular Chinese restaurant.

Barrow Fiesta, a buffet drawing inspiration from across the globe, is due to open its doors next week.

It will open in place of the former Jade Fountain restaurant in Cavendish Street, which closed last year.

Owners Ana and Martin Brun previously worked as a hotel manager and chef respectively.

They said they wanted to bring ‘something different’ to Barrow and had achieved their goal in running their own restaurant.

Mrs Brun said: “We have always wanted to have our own restaurant and we felt like it was the right time to do it now. I used to be the manager at a hotel and my husband worked as a chef and this is something we have wanted to do for a while.

“It’s a bit of a dream come true for us.”

The couple moved to Barrow in 2007. When considering a space for their own restaurant they had looked at the old Frankie & Benny’s site in Hindpool Retail park, which is due to be taken up by a Burger King.

Barrow Fiesta is due to open next week, with the owners looking to start serving a buffet of Chinese, Italian, Mexican and Filipino food from August 8. More refurbishment will take place before then.

Jade Fountain’s owners shut up shop in September last year following 13 years in business, blaming the closure on ‘circumstances beyond our control’.

The Mail reported in June that the restaurant was due to be opened by a new tenant after sold signs went up.
