THE Royal Voluntary Service is expanding a mobility programme for older people in Cumbria thanks to funding from the Morrison’s Foundation.
The grant of just over £17,000 will fund a specially designed programme which will provide up to 300 people in the area with new opportunities to take part in chair based exercise classes, offering practical exercises to help people maintain vital muscle strength, balance and mobility to undertake day to day functions such as climbing stairs or getting in and out of the car.
Karen Rose, service manager for Royal Voluntary Service said: “We are very grateful to receive this grant from the Morrison’s Foundation to help us build on our existing work supporting communities across Cumbria.
“Staying active physically and socially is essential at any age.
“ RVS wants to help by offering opportunities to participate in exercises which bring older people together in a fun social setting.”
