THERE was a murder to solve on the stage of Ulverston’s Coronation Hall 25 years ago – but the police were able to call on the detective skills of Jane Marple.
The famous mystery solver from the novels of Agatha Christie was played by Molly Muckelt as Pennington Drama Group presented Murder at the Vicarage.
The Mail, on Tuesday, June 22 in 1994, noted: “Molly was a founder member of the group in 1945 and has been secretary and performer ever since.”
She was joined on stage by a cast which included Lyndsey Jackson, Jeremy Ganz, David Faratian, Caroline Fox, Sheila Moon, Eileen Ramsden, Sue Little, Neil Irving, Graeme Livingstone, Kevin Neale, Mark Williams, Arthur Tooke and Ryan Shaw.
The article noted: “There are plenty of solid performances from well-known faces which provide a rattling good evening of entertainment.
“The mystery holds up until the end and Molly Muckelt as Miss Marple sorts it all out as usual.”
