Latest figures from Barrow dog pound showed that 600 dogs had been handed over to the warden or abandoned in the borough in the past 12 months. This was up bt 230 dogs compared to figures from three years ago.

More than 200 toys had been destroyed in the last two years because they were a danger to children in Barrow due to the lead content in paint, said a report to councillors.
