CAST Theatre Company is staging a feelgood, funny and joyous production at The Forum.

Running at the Barrow theatre from last night until Saturday, Nativity! The Musical, features scores of favourite sing-a-long hits from the films, including Sparkle and Shine, Nazareth, One Night One Moment, She’s the Brightest Star and a whole host of new tunes filled with the spirit of Christmas.

The thinking behind the show is that every child in every school has one Christmas wish: to star in a nativity. And the story focuses on St Bernadette’s School, where they are attempting to mount a musical version. Only trouble is teacher Mr Maddens has promised that a Hollywood producer is going along to see the show to turn it into a film. Join Mr Maddens, his teaching assistant the crazy Mr Poppy, hilarious children and a whole lot of sparkle and shine as they struggle to make everyone’s Christmas wish come true.

For the record, Cast Youth Theatre was set up in 2008 by the Barker and Patrick families, who had been involved in putting on shows and pantomimes in church halls and also in local youth drama groups. Since - and renamed Cast Theatre Company - membership has grown and the dynamic theatrical outfit is now producing a couple of musicals each year along with fundraising concerts, wedding choirs, tombolas and sponsored events. Concerts not only support the talented group, but also contribute to other local charities. This year Cast Kids (for four to seven year olds) performed their first concert, the adult group staged Chicago in February and CTC was nominated for Group of the Year in the Love Barrow Community Awards.

Performances start at 7.30pm; Saturday, 6pm.
