CAMPAIGNERS protesting against the removal of free TV licences for some  over 75s will make their voices heard in Barrow tomorrow.

Gemma Humes, who has launched a petition against the change will lead the protest in Dalton Road.

Campaigners will be bearing placards and looking for signatures near the Spirit of Barrow statue from 10.30am.

Miss Humes has left copies of the petition at homes and businesses across Furness.

The 34-year-old said cuts to the free licences could lead to 'elderly suicides', with older people unable to afford to watch TV as a way to keep them company.

She said the prospect was 'absolutely heartbreaking'. The licence fee changes are set to come into effect in June 2020.

Under the plans only people receiving pension credit will be given a free TV licence.
