RENOVATIONS to a town’s war memorial have finally been completed after many months of various delays.
The Millom War Memorial pathways have been completed just in time to coincide with the D-Day commemoration service on Thursday 6th June.
The service will take place at 7.30pm outside the memorial on Station Road and will see the deputy lieutenant of Cumbria Norman Thompson in attendance.
A spokesperson from the project said: "The Millom War Memorials group have completed the project of cleaning the cenotaph, repainting the names on both memorials, replacing the broken concrete pathways and steps, and renewing the electricals.
"This was possible through support from WREN recycling services, Sellafield, Furness Building Society, Millom CGP, Millom Lottery, H.M.Prison Haverigg, Harbour Ladies, St. Luke's Mothers' Union, Councillor Doug Wilson's Mayor's Appeal."
