A MOTHER expressed her frustration after a train from Barrow was cancelled.
The daughter of Louise Steur, 56, from Ulverston nearly missed her exam at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) after yesterday's 6.47am service to Manchester Airport was cancelled due to a lack of drivers.
She said: "I checked Northern's website and it says cancelled due to lack of drivers. Not the first time this has happened, but it’s the airport train so there will be people who are affected that are going on holiday. I have messaged Northern who were apologetic but it’s just not good enough.
A spokesman for Northern said: “Unfortunately one of our conductors was taken ill at short notice this morning. Because of the late notice we were unable to bring in a replacement conductor and we are very sorry to all our customers whose journeys were affected.”
Fortunately, a woman named Ruth drove her daughter to UCLan to just make the exam.
