We asked Mail readers to choose their favourite place to get ice cream in Barrow, Ulverston and Millom. Here are your choices...

We had more than 300 responses from readers voting for their favourite ice cream spot in the area.

1. Roy’s Ices:

The support for Roy’s Ices was clear to see with more than 100 votes for the Bardsea based ice cream van. One Mail reader said: “Roys, been going there since we were kids visiting from all the way from Hong Kong.

“Still come to visit family in Barrow now and always stop off at Roy’s on the way from Essex.”

Another said: “Roy’s Ices, lemon meringue or the chocolate. Keenly priced so taking the family for a treat doesn’t break the bank.”

2. Cumbrian Cow:

The Ulverston based ice cream parlour has built up strong following of customers. One Mail reader said: “Cumbrian cow made using there own cows and is best I’ve tasted.”

Another said: “Cumbrian Cow by far the best, wouldn’t go anywhere else.”

3. Riva Gelato:

Riva Gelato in Haverigg is known for its great quality ice cream. One Mail reader said: “ Riva Gelato at Harbour Lights campsite Haverigg, great choice of homemade ice cream.”

4.Bosuns Locker:

Bosuns Locker is a cafe on Roa Island which has become hugely popular over the years. One Mail reader said: “My Granddaughters love “ The Bosuns Locker “ on Roa Island.”

5. Chill and Grill:

Chill & Grill Ice Cream Parlour on the coast road is a popular spot for ice cream amongst Furness residents. One Mail reader said: “The Chill & Grill is always the first place we head for. Loads of flavours, good price and delicious.”

6. Silecroft Beach cafe:

Silecroft Beach cafe is favourite for Millom residents and Mail readers. One reader said: “ Silecroft Beach cafe , yummy ices , and lots and lots of choice flavours.”

7. Dam’ fine Ices:

Another great ice cream spot offering a range of options and great tasting ice cream. One Mail reader said: “ Dam’ fine Ices is amazing. Hidden by High Dam but sell wallings ice cream plus brews and cakes! Underrated.”

8. Old Hall Farm:

Old Hall Farm near Ulverston offers so much more than just ice cream. Families can enjoy a great day out with a host of activity and of course delicious ice cream made on site,

9. Mr.Ts English Lakes Ice Cream:

Found on the beach front at Haverigg, this is another popular spot. One Mail reader said: "18 delicious flavours of English Lakes Ice Cream. two scoops from £1.80. Full range of iced lollies, hot and cold drinks. 5 star rating from Copeland council. In their seventh year. Wonderful ice cream."

10. Abbey Mill:

Another popular spot for Furness residents and Mail readers. One reader said: "Delicious ice cream and great customer service."
