A foodbank is appealing for volunteers to help raise awareness.
Barrow Foodbank is appealing for volunteers to spend time over June supporting them.
They need people to fill 90 minute slots having out 'shopping lists' of things the foodbank needs at Barrow supermarkets.
Volunteers are needed on Friday June 7 and Saturday June 8.
The slots for volunteers are between 9.30am and 5pm both days.
Anyone interested should contact supermarket@barrowfoodbank.co.uk.
Barrow Foodbank does invaluable work within the community, providing food for those who are struggling.
Between April 2018 to March 2019, Barrow Foodbank provided 8,098 three day emergency food parcels to local people.
Of this number, 3112 were for children.
This makes up more than half of the 14,364 emergency food packages handed out in Cumbria.
