The Brown Cow Inn is on the outskirts of Dalton with a lovely beer garden and plenty of parking.
They serve traditional pub food all day with with a daily range of six real ales. The Brown Cow is the top choice in Dalton for Mail readers as well as a popular real ale spot for people across the area.
4. The Ship Inn, Greenodd:
The Ship Inn has developed a reputation for quality beers and has become increasingly popular residents. One Mail reader said: "The ship inn at Greenodd has the best ale by a long way and they have the awards to prove it."

Another popular ale hotspot in Ulverston. The Mill offers customer a range of local and world beers. With three individual bars, a charming restaurant and an outdoor terrace, it is easy to see why the pub is so popular.
