A South Cumbria music festival has kicked off this week with performances from pupils across the county.
Celebrating its 43rd year, the South Cumbria Music Festival in Ulverston is hosting a series of musical events aimed at showcasing homegrown talent.
The festival opened with brass day, where audiences enjoyed a wide range of music with brass solos, duets and ensembles in both age restricted and 'open' classes.
SCMF Chairman, Bob McClean, said: "The festival got off to a great start with some exceptional brass playing in the solo classes, particularly from the younger age groups, which is encouraging for the well-being of the brass competition.
"We are looking forward to the rest of the week continuing the same high standard set today."
The week-long festival will culminate with a Gala Night on Saturday March 30, where the festival winners will give a special performance together with local talent and invited guests.
