CHILDREN from a school on Walney learnt all about pies after a Barrow-based entrepreneur and chef came into their school.
The reception class from South Walney Infants and Nursery School discovered how to make the perfect pastry from Sam Halpin, the proprietor of Deli.sh in Crellin Street.
Inspired by these events, the children are now looking at setting up their own pie shop in the school.
Mhairi Thomson, teacher of the reception class, said: “The children learnt all about delicious food and where food comes from. They also learnt all about how to make pies and the process they need to go through.
“All the children really enjoyed the day and we are now looking at setting up our own pie shop in the school.
“As part of the shop the children will be making all their own signs and menus with some very unique and exciting ideas, such as chicken nugget pies as well as chocolate and marshmallow ones.”
