FORMER members of Barrow Round Table have secured a commemorative plaque knocked from its wall in a crash.
A Volkswagen Golf collided with the slate stone wall on the Coast Road on Tuesday morning.
The 32-year-old male driver of the vehicle escaped with minor injuries.
The plaque had been installed in 1967 to mark the centenary of the borough of Barrow.
Fortunately the plaque itself was not damaged and although Barrow Round Table closed around seven years ago former members plan to have the plaque reinstated.
Peter Garwood who was chairman of Barrow Round Table from 1996-1997 said: "Once we've checked we have permission from highways we will have the stone table rebuilt and the plaque reattached."
