AFTER the success of Cats, Abbey Musical Society returns with another Lloyd Webber classic, Jesus Christ Superstar, the sensational rock opera which charts the last few days of Christ. Running at The Forum, Barrow, from next Monday, March 18 until Saturday, March 23, Dave Stockton plays Jesus, Chris Barker is in the role of Judas with Ailsa McIntosh as Mary. The cast of 60 - ranging from age 11 to 80 - also includes Mark Johnson as Pilate, Owen Thompson playing Caiaphas and Alastair Rae in the guise of Annas. Performances start at 7.30pm plus a 2pm show on the Saturday.
FURNESS Music Centre's spring concert is on Saturday at the Victory Hall, Broughton-in-Furness. The programme is a light-hearted mix of popular classics and film music. The choir will offer a medley from Lloyd Webber's Joseph, Spring by Vivaldi, Goodnight Sweetheart and Barbara Ann. The 50-strong orchestra will have Zimmer's film music from The Gladiator, Libertango - Piazolla, Schubert's Minuet No 5, and A Taste of the Isles, arranged by Gaw. The finale with choir and orchestra coming together will showcase music from the films of Laurel and Hardy. Performance starts at 7.30pm.
