Rampside Women’s Institute held their monthly meeting this weekend (February 13)
Those in attendance heard from Gail Knopfel, a fund-raiser from The Birchall Trust who was presented with a cheque for £250 from the proceeds of the WI raffles and Goodwill Stall.
Gail then went on to talk about the charity which supports those affected by rape and sexual abuse. It was initially known as the South Cumbria Rape and Abuse Service and was started in 1991 by Christine Birchall who saw a television programme about people who had experienced sexual abuse and decided to train as a counsellor
Linda Colton, President of Rampside WI welcomed three new members and gave information about forthcoming events including International Women’s Day at the Coronation Hall on Friday March 8.
The next meeting a joint meeting with Urswick WI at Urswick on March 13.
