Preparations are underway for the start of Phase Two of a major maintenance project on Jubilee Bridge in Barrow.
The works are scheduled to start in April and will involve steelwork repairs and painting over the full length of the bridge.
These works form part of a £4.5m investment in Jubilee Bridge by Cumbria County Council which will secure the future of Cumbria’s largest bridge for many years to come.
In order to carry out the bridge works, the county council must secure a Marine Licence from the Marine Management Organisation (MMO), which licenses and regulates marine activities in seas around England and Wales.
The council has now submitted a full application for a Marine Licence to the MMO.
