ULVERSTON’S Stefan Orlowski is a terrific talent and dedicated oil painter. Next Saturday, February 16, Stefan’s Through Floors, Within Rooms exhibition opens at Brantwood, showing his incredibly sensitive, beautiful and sometimes disquieting portrait work. The former Coniston home of John Ruskin has a packed programme pencilled in for this year. Included is another of the region’s rising stars with huge artistic potential, Daniel Cooper, exhibiting from June 8.

ONE of the area’s newest art spaces is hosting the first solo exhibition by Cumbrian-born landscape photographer Ben Bush. On show until April 2 at The Gaddum Gallery at Brockhole, Windermere, Ben’s In the Still of the Night exhibition features impressive mountain ranges, arching celestial skies, low misty clouds and deep mirrored waters. As well as images of the Lake District, there are other magical scenes such as the northern lights of Skye. Many of Ben’s images explore the realm of astrophotography.

COMING up is the exciting finale of Signal Film and Media’s Platform Digital Arts Programme. Under the Northern Sky runs from March 2 and features the work of 13 artists from across Cumbria and the north of England, celebrating the diversity of artistic talent that exists across the region. The exhibition takes over multiple spaces across the ground floor of Signal’s grade 2 listed building on Barrow’s Abbey Road, showing photography, film, textiles, sound art and immersive installations.
