COMEDY is proving to be the new rock and roll with umpteen crowd pulling, laughter laden shows being staged across the region.

Come Saturday, February 23, and Ulverston's Coronation Hall provides the gag-packed platform for Saturday Night Live, the sister night to Planet Mirth, which is held at the town's Laurel and Hardy museum (and apparently soon to be at Odd Frog in Barrow). It promises to deliver four Edinburgh Festival storming, award winning, prime time TV acts.

So here we go...

Nick Page is host for the evening. Nick was a 2018 Britain's Got Talent semi-finalist and won the English Comedian of the Year 2017/2018 accolade. His prize was an all expenses trip to Australia to perform at the Perth and Adelaide festivals where he performed up to 10 shows a day for two months. He is in great demand throughout the nation's comedy clubs, as a headline act and MC.

Also on the Coro bill is Scottish Comedian of the Year 2006 Paul Pirie. His sets are akin to a rapid-fire comedy onslaught with material which blurs the lines between real life anecdotes and flight of fancy. His career has embraced the worlds of television, film and radio alongside his skills as a stand-up.

Sharing the spotlight is Sarah Callaghan, an award-winning comedian and writer who has taken the comedy scene by storm with her frank and fearless style. In 2014 she was named ‘One to Watch’ by Time Out. In 2018 she took her latest knock out show The Ballad of Sarah Callaghan to the New Zealand International Comedy Festival.

Finally, at the tender age of just 24, Christopher Macarthur-Boyd has performed stand up everywhere from downtown Toronto to the Perth and Adelaide Fringe Festivals. He has also appeared on BBC Radio One's 24 Hours and Radio Four Extra’s Stands Up At The Fringe as well as making a name for himself as a writer, actor and director of online content for BBC Scotland’s Short Stuff and Room To Write. Christopher is a three-time Scottish Comedian of the Year finalist, a So You Think You’re Funny? finalist, and a two-time nominee for Best New Act at the Scottish Comedy Awards.
