A MAN was taken to hospital after a "horrific" alleged attack in Ormsgill.

Police were called at 3.30am in the early hours of Sunday to reports of an alleged assault in the area of Hazel Gill.

The victim, a man in his 30s, suffered minor injuries after he was allegedly assaulted by two other men.

Ormsgill residents claimed the alleged assault had been witnessed by a teenage boy and people from neighbouring homes reportedly rushed outside to help the victim.

He was described by residents as suffering from breathing difficulties and had a cut to his arm and an ambulance was called.

One resident described the alleged attack as a "horrific" incident.

A 22-year-old man from Barrow was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and has been released without bail pending further investigations.
