Barrow Community kitchen are hosting a new course to help save lives.

The new 'Heart Start' course will teach people what to so in the event of a cardiac arrest.

The course was developed by the British Heart Foundation charity and will be lead by trained medical staff from the North West Medical Service (NWMS).

The course last two to three hours and is completely free.

The Community Kitchen can accommodate between six and 12 people per course.

Those in attendance will learn how to recognise if a person is going in to cardiac arrest or having a heart attack.

They will also be taught how to correctly deal with choking, respond to serious bleeding and how to properly deal with an unconscious person.

Medical staff from the NWMS will be on hand to answer any questions. There is not a set date for the course as of yet but anyone interested should contact Barrow Community Kitchen.
