THE family of an 18-year-old who was found dead two days after Christmas have released details of his funeral.

Jake Davies' family described him as "the brightest star in the sky" who will be "greatly missed by all".

The former Dowdales School pupil, who lived in Askam, was found dead near Ulpha on the morning of December 27.

His death was described by mountain rescue team volunteers who were called to the scene as a "tragic incident" and many have paid tribute to the teenager since the news of his death.

His parents Paul and Debbie, along with his brothers Daniel and Matthew, have now confirmed details of his funeral which will take place at Thorncliffe |Crematorium in Barrow on Friday January 11 at 12.15pm.

Any donations made on the day of the service will be split between local mental health charities.

His family said in the notice published in today's Mail: "As Jake would have said: 'Wear what you want as long as you’re smiling'."

Police said the circumstances of his death were not suspicious but the formal cause of death will likely be subject to an inquest.

Mr Davies along with Noah Johnson and Dan Milmine formed their band, The Liars Club, in 2017. The band are regulars at the Odd Frog in Barrow.

His bandmates paid tribute to him as they urged men to seek help with mental health problems.

They posted on the band's Facebook page: ""However completely hidden and unknown to us Jake was dealing with a very serious and real mental illness. We’re living in an age where masculinity can be toxic and men feel like they can’t talk to one another as it’s not manly enough!

"People have the fear of judgment and fear of no one being there to listen! This has to stop!

"If you are dealing with suicidal thoughts we urge you to speak to someone, anyone, because the people listening will be there to hear and help. Every minute that goes by has been spent wishing that Jake would have spoken to us about his inner feelings."
