A longstanding community business has come under new ownership.

Greens of Millom, a bakery on Wellington Street, has been serving residents in the town for over 60 years.

Now the business has been taken over by two Millom locals who are hoping to continue onwards with the business.

Dionne Keen and Jamie Sharman, both from Millom, are the new owners of Greens and are keen to make the business in to something which fits its proud history.

Dionne Keen said: “I worked in Greens for three years under the old ownership.

“We want to bring it back to what it used to be like when the Green family ran it.”

The new owners at Greens have been wished all the best by a number of Millom Town councillors

Angela Dixon, Deputy Mayor of Millom said: “I wish both Dionne and Jamie all the best at Greens, they both really deserve to get on and do well.

“Dionne works very hard and of course used to work at the bakery herself.

“They deserve all the success they can get.”

Jane Micklethwaite, Mayor of Millom, said: “We always want to support our local businesses in Millom.

“So, it’s great to see this continuity at Greens.

“Good luck to both Dionne and Jamie, I hope you have a long and successful time doing business in Millom.”
