RECYCLING scheme for crisp packets has been launched today to tackle plastic waste.
Walkers have announced a plan is in place to put collection points across the UK for customers to get rid of plastic packets.
This comes after the crisp company was targeted by protests on the issue.
Empty packets dating as far back as the 1960s were found on beaches.
A petition for environmentally-friendly packaging received more than 330,000 signatures.
Emily Stevenson, a 21-year-old campaigner against crisp plastic waste said the move is a step in the right direction’.
She said: "We all need to keep working together with Walkers to find better solutions.
"This is a short-term fix and we do need to keep working towards getting risk of plastic packaging altogether."
