CROONERS is a new comedy musical bringing variety back to the theatre with a very quintessentially British twist.

With their tongue firmly in their musical cheeks, three self-assured gents of style and vigour, are swinging their way to The Forum at Barrow, on Friday, November 30 (7.30pm), performing the music of the Rat Pack and the American Songbook in a manner that promises to leave you smiling from ear to ear. The rip-roaring, laughter-laden show is fronted by the tuneful trio of highly regarded crooners backed by the outstanding musicianship of the nine-piece modern swingers, The Mini Big Band, led by Jon Hibbard. The show plays homage to some of the greatest crooners of all time, featuring some of the best loved songs from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Matt Monro, Nat King Cole, Bobby Darin and more.

The production is a collaboration between comedy writer and performer, Roman Marek, and The Mini Big Band, one of the UK’s most prolific swing ensembles. Both are on a mission to lead a return to the British variety shows of the past and celebrate the very British genre. "I’m a song and dance man" explains creator Roman Marek, "and was brought up on the music of the super cool crooners, but also on the quintessentially English stage humour of Morecambe and Wise, Bruce Forsyth, and Max Bygraves."

Roman has been a Frank Sinatra tribute performer on a major UK Rat Pack show for years and has honed the craft of crooning, but felt there was more to offer UK crowds. “The super cool Sinatra stuff is great” adds Roman. “Audiences love the songs and the acts. But I started throwing in the less cool British comedy stuff; tripping up the stairs, telling a joke wrong, and the audience would howl with laughter. This was the way I wanted to perform.”
