1 AN EXHIBITION is being held at Coniston as a tribute to people from the village who took part in both world wars. Running at Coniston Institute from Monday, November 19 to Sunday, December 2, Lest We Forget features a collection of photographs from the Coniston Photos Project. Marking 100 years since the Armistice which ended the fighting in 1918, it tells the story of 21 young Coniston men who died in the First World War and another four in the Second World War. Among those featured are brothers John and James Bennett. Open daily, except Fridays, from 10am to 4pm.

2 VINTAGE at The Dock Christmas Fair returns once again to the popular Barrow museum tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday, featuring stall holders from across the north who will fill the hall with gifts and handmade chocolates on display alongside beautiful vintage dresses and jewellery. Providing the entertainment will be Karen Bell playing vintage jazz while fair-goers enjoy a good shop. The vintage fair is open 11am-4pm on both days. Also on show at The Dock is South Lakes Art Collective's Without Boundaries exhibition.

3 HITCHCOCK’S classic spy thriller, The 39 Steps, is brilliantly and hilariously recreated by Ulverston Outsiders next week. Running from Tuesday until Friday (7.30pm) at the Coronation Hall, follow the incredible adventures of handsome hero Richard Hannay, complete with stiff-upper-lip, British gung-ho and pencil moustache as he encounters dastardly murders, double-crossing secret agents, and, of course, devastatingly beautiful women. 4 BRANTWOOD is a pure paradise of art and nature, and this weekend at the former Coniston home of John Ruskin artist Sarah Casey runs Life Lines, a hands-on drawing workshop, offering people the chance to become a clothing detective by exploring John Ruskin’s clothes. Sarah will show how drawing clothes helps people unlock their many mysteries and those attending can take along their own. 5 BARROW Society of Artists is staging its final show of the year with more than 30 new and original works all for sale. Running at Ramsden Gallery within Home Images on Barrow's Duke Street until November 24, featured artists are Faiqa Aslam, Mary and Alan Calvert, Carol Davies, Denny Derbyshire, Sheila Fleming, Cathy Holmes, Geoff Parkes, Andy Currie Scarr, Maggie Parkinson and Barbara and Bryn Trescatheric. Open Monday-Saturday, from 10am-5pm, the vibrant display features around 35 pieces in various mediums and a must-see exhibition.
