GRIZEDALE Forest is a world famous attraction graced with stunning art and breathtaking views. Visitors can walk and cycle, pick a quiet spot to admire the wildlife or discover amazing sculptures throughout the forest.

And deep within the magical terrain is an impressive visitor centre, cafe and children's adventure play area.

Grizedale also sports a Go Ape! Forest Segways, some of the best fun you can have off-road, on two eco-friendly wheels, without having to pedal, and there's the Go Ape! Zip Trekking Adventure, starting with a hike and a short ride in a Land Rover to the start at one of the highest points in the forest.

Grizedale is under the protective banner of the Forestry Commission.

Arguably, the forest's greatest treasure woven across its precious kingdom is its sculpture trail. Since the 1970s innovative artists from across the world have created sculpture within the 4,000 hectares of forest and woodland and Grizedale's extensive network of walking and cycling trails are a terrific way to explore and discover the amazing pieces.

The trails offer a range of options for visitors of all abilities and incredible views of the surrounding Lake District Fells. The Highway Rat is the latest Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler book to be brought to life on its forest trails. A new exhibition, Hiding in the Wood, is also running in the visitor centre to tie in with the 50th anniversary of Arts in the Forest. Shona Branigan, the artist, explores her fascination with trees through creating original relief prints which are made by printing the wood itself.
