HERE'S our guide to some of the best events taking place this week in South Cumbria...

1 PARKRUN If your looking to get fit, try one of this weeks five km park runs taking place across South Cumbria. The four runs will start at 9:00am this Saturday taking place at Barrow Park in Barrow, Ford Park in Ulverston, Millom Network Centre in Millom and Fell Foot Park in Newby Bridge.

2 For family fun why not try the Halloweeeen Spooctacular at South Lakes Safari Zoo in Lindal this Saturday and Sunday. From 10am they will be giving away spot prizes for the most inventive family fancy dress costumes. Entry is free for children in Hallowe'en costumes and free for adults who bring a carved pumpkin.

3 For something a little different try heading down to The Forum in Barrow to listen to South Lakes Rock School play Nirvana’s seminal album in its entirety. The event will take place on Sunday at 3:pm with tickets costing £4 - £8.

4 For those crafty individuals there is a winter craft fair at Rampside Village Hall in Barrow this Sunday. There will be 17 craft stalls selling handmade local gifts and treats as well as a whole range of other craft products. Proceeds from the event will be going to the Barrow Male Voice Choir and entry is free. The event will be running from 12pm - 4pm.

5 For more Hallowe’en family spooks there will be a themed puppet show and free face painting in Barrow Market Hall. The event is running this Saturday from 10am to 1pm. The puppet shows will be taking place and 11am and again at 12pm. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

6 For a barrel of laughs head to the Beggar’s Theatre in Millom this Saturday at 7.30pm to see the comedy band lakes zoo.

In their two and a half hour show they will be performing a host of Dooni-hits set to get the audience chuckling. Tickets for the show are available from The Beggar’s Theatre website or at the box office for £14-16.

7 Millerbeck Light Railway in Newby Bridge will also be open for their Spooky Fun Days. People have been asked to dress up in their spookiest costumes and ride the diesel & electric trains. But beware their maybe some spooks about. The event is running on both Saturday and Sunday from 11am - 4.pm.

8 For the night crawlers hoping to dip their toes into the early hours there is the Hallowe’en rave this Saturday at Coronation Hall. DJ A. Skillz is set to headline with tickets costing £16.

9 Ulverston Auction Mart will also be holding their Indoor Car Boot Sale this Sunday. Set up will start from 6.30am taking place inside if too wet and windy. There is no need to book just turn up. Toilets & refreshments are available On Site

10 Mark Cumberland will also be paying tribute to Elvis this Saturday at a grand charity event at the Forum in Barrow. Tickets cost £5 for children and £10 for adults, plus booking charges, with the show starting at 8:00pm. The event will be raising money for three separate charities the Action for Duchenne Syndrome (Childhood Muscular dystrophy ), the Local Fire service benevolent Fund and the Dalton First Responders.
