THE Millom community are being encouraged to get on their bikes this weekend and go out to support two charity bike riders as their complete the final leg of their fundraising challenge.

People of all ages are being invited to join Sharon Fry and Justine Mitchell on Sunday as they pedal their way through the last stage of their 300 miles in 30 days of September sponsored bike ride.

Mrs Fry and Mrs Mitchell are cycling to raise money for the charity A Skye Full of Stars and the community fund to support Millom Community Track.

A Skye Full of Stars is the legacy charity of Mrs Fry’s late daughter, Skye Mitchell.

Skye and her friend Caitlin Huddleston, both 18 and of Millom, died in car crash in July last year.

A Skye Full of Stars raises funds to help other young people in the Millom area to achieve their dreams and goals in various fields, such as sport and music.

On Sunday Mrs Fry and Mrs Mitchell, Sky’s auntie will be completing their bike ride in and around Millom and Haverigg.

The ride will start in Market Street at 1pm, and the route will pass the sea wall and head back to Market Street again.

The ladies would like people to join them on the ride. For those who don’t wish to, or can’t get on their bikes, they are invited to see the ride off at the start and cheer them on to the finish line.

Mrs Fry said: “We would like as many children and adults to join us for a ride on the sea wall at 1pm from Justine Mitchell’s house on Market Street and return there for hopefully a fantastic finish line.

“If you don’t want to ride you could cheer us on at the finishing line. We’ve had an emotional time and hope your continued support will spur us on and continue our charity work to help young people in our community, as Skye Bo Mitchell would want.”

Over the past month ‘Team Skye’ have had various faces join them on their rides, in the Millom area, and also in Carnforth, Morecambe and Heysham.

A Skye Full of Stars is already helping talented young people in the Millom area fulfil ambitions. It has contributed towards young people going on international rugby tours and musicians with their artistic goals.

The public have also been wishing the pair good luck on social media and in person with their biking challenge.

Originally the charity challengers had set a target of £400, but they have already far exceeded that amount.
