INVESTIGATIONS are continuing after an attempted theft left a tea room staff member injured last month.
Police are searching for a man, believed to be in his mid-30s to mid-40s, after he was seen attempting to steal from the till at Gillams tea room in Market Street, Ulverston.
After being challenged the man, who spoke with an eastern European accent, fled the shop.
During the intervention, the proprietor of the shop sustained a minor injury to their finger.
The suspect attempted to steal cash from the till found in the delicatessen side of the business, next door from the tea room.
He made the attempt when members of staff were occupied with serving customers.
Officers describe the man as being 6ft tall, of slim build, balding with facial stubble.
He was wearing dark blue trousers and a t-shirt.
