AN elderly lady from South Cumbria has been put into an induced coma after falling down the stairs.
The Great North Air Ambulance's Pride of Cumbria helicopter was called by ambulance paramedics at around 3.15pm yesterday to Heversham near Kendal after an elderly woman, aged in her 70s, fell down a flight of stairs and suffered serious head injuries.
The woman was stabilised and placed in an induced coma before being flown to Royal Preston Hospital. Her injuries have been described as critical/life-threatening.
