POLICE have issued a safety warning to South Cumbria schools after a pupil was approached by a stranger.
An 11-year-old boy was approached by a woman outside the post office in Main Street, Grange on Friday, January 26, at around 4.45pm.
Schools in the area issued an alert to parents on January 29 about the incident.
Cumbria Police said the child was approached by a woman who asked him if he would like to go to her house and watch movies. The woman was described as having long, black wavy hair, green eyes, size 16-18 and spoke with a local accent. She was wearing a cream faux fur coat and black leather gloves and was on foot.
Police said they are investigating the incident and they issued a safety warning and guidance to schools.
Schools asked parents to be aware of the situation. They have told pupils that if a similar incident happens they must go to a safe place immediately and let their parents and school know immediately.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Cumbria Police on 101, or email police on 101@cumbria.police.uk , with the log reference 161 of January 26.
