A WOMAN was flown to hospital after her car overturned on the A595 yesterday (2).
The driver was flown to Preston Royal Hospital with serious injuries after emergency services were called out on Saturday June 2.
Cumbria Police were called shortly after 5pm after the one vehicle collision on the road in the centre of Kirkby outside Burlington Primary School.
The road remained closed until 1am this morning (3) while police and paramedics attended the scene and the car was removed.
Officers confirm her family has been made aware of the incident.
A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: "The police were called at 5:19pm to the report of a one vehicle collision, which occurred in the centre of Kirkby-in-Furness.
"The A595 in Kirkby is closed, and will remain closed for the foreseeable future while emergency services attend the scene and the vehicle is recovered."
Diversions are in place, but motorists are advised to avoid the area.
Cumbria Roads Police tweeted: "Currently dealing with Serious RTC at Kirby-in-Furness.
"Female driver flown to Preston Royal. Family aware. Road will remain closed whilst scene is examined."
