THE potentially dangerous Lion's Mane Jellyfish have been spotted washed up at Silecroft beach, as well as on Walney.
Furness Coastguard has warned the public to take care after the local sightings of the jellyfish which have a severe sting.
There have been an increase in sightings of Lion’s Mane Jellyfish on the UK and Irish coastlines recently. Some swimmers have received stings and some have been hospitalised.
Furness Coastguard posted on Facebook: "Some of our followers have reported sightings of Lions Mane Jellyfish along the coast of Walney.
As always please enjoy the sea and the coast, but take care and if in trouble dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
