A PERSON has died after being hit by a train in Cumbria.
Emergency services were called out to Oxenholme station after reports of the incident last night (Tuesday).
Northern cancelled services on the Lakes Line between Windermere and Oxenholme while police dealt with the incident.
Travellers Choice coaches carried passengers between the stations.
Virgin Trains, which operate the West Coast mainline through Cumbria from Carlisle to Lancaster, advised that services may be delayed by up to 90 minutes, with disruption expected until the end of the day.
British Transport Police have today confirmed the person hit by the train has died.
