The 10 best weekend events across Furness this weekend...

1 Shop Barrow Day is ready to take place on Saturday, with free parking being available across most car parks.

There will be live entertainment across the town centre, including KS Musicals who will be performing at Barrow Market from 11.30am-1pm.

2 Come and see Santa and his Elves in his Grotto at The Vision Support Centre, Barrow.

The jolly old man will make an appearance on Saturday and Sunday between 10am-5pm.

The event will cost £3 per child, with coffee and cakes being available too.

All proceeds will go towards helping visually impaired people in the area to live independently.

3 Join The Beggar’s Theatre, Millom, tomorrow night from 7pm-11pm to support A Skye Full of Stars Charity Fashion Show.

The event is in memory of Skye Mitchell. The charity aims to help young people in the Millom area to further their ambition.

The night will involve live music, a raffle and a bar.

4 Support Children’s Services at Furness General Hospital this Christmas by taking part in the Bay Hospitals Charity Elf Run.

The 5k run is family friendly and invites people to run, stroll or jingle all the way.

Father Christmas will also be making an appearance to give out an elf hat to everyone participating.

It is encouraged that all who take part are dressed up in Christmas themed outfits.

Registration will open on the day at 12pm and the Elf Run will set off at 1pm from Hawcoat Park.

5 The Super Marios are returning to Sunday Night Live.

Come along and join John and Peter for some great solo and duo renditions and a Christmas sing-a-long to remember.

The event will start at 6.30pm-8pm at Costa Coffee, Dalton Road.

6 Join Rampside Village Hall for their Christmas Fair on Sunday.

The festive event will be taking place on the first day of December from 1pm-3pm and will be free to enter.

Refreshments and cakes will be available as well as a soup lunch for £2.50.

7 Head to Dalton to watch the Christmas lights switch-on this Sunday.

Festivities are due to start at 5pm in Tudor Square.

Santa and his reindeer will lead the parade to Market Place where local band Sugarfoot will be entertaining the crowds.

8 Visit St Mary's Church, Dalton, before heading to the Dalton Christmas light switch-on to look at the creative Christmas Tree's on display.

The doors will open at 2pm and will close at 6.30pm.

Make sure to bring some spare change along to donate to the many worthy causes on show.

9 Pop along to St James Church, Barrow to enjoy their annual Winter Fair tomorrow at 11am.

Be inspired by lots of Christmas gift ideas, crafts, cakes and home produce.

Music will be provided by Dalton Town Band, and you can treat yourself to Pie and Peas before an early visit from Father Christmas.

10 Join parkrun for a free 5k event tomorrow at 9am. Sign up at www.parkrun.org.uk and then head to Barrow parkrun, Ulverston’s Ford parkrun, Millom parkrun or Fell Foot parkrun.
