THE music of James Taylor and Carole King is the subject of a new biographical show, heading to Furness this March.

You've Got A Friend - named after a song that both artists recorded in their heyday - appears at The Forum, in Barrow, on Sunday 5.

From the creators of the smash hit West End show The Simon and Garfunkel Story, this new theatre experience celebrates two of the greatest songwriters of all time.

Telling the delicate story of friendship, this musical journey intertwines all the hits, including I Feel The Earth Move, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You), Fire & Rain, You Make Me Feel (Like A Natural Woman) and, of course, You’ve Got A Friend.

The cast includes seasoned West End performer Kyla Brown as Carole King, Bill Lennon as James Taylor, and also features a full cast of actor-musicians, who help narrate the show.

The show's writer, Dean Elliott - who starred in Buddy: the musical, at London's Duchess Theatre and on USA, Canada and European tours - said that the songs alone were enough to convince him to make them the subject of his latest production.

"The songwriting is just excellent," he says.

"They wrote songs that spoke directly to people and that is why there music has lasted the test of time.

"The challenge is to faithfully recreate the songs as you hear them on the record to do them justice. We have a fantastic band to be able to do that and the keen eye for detail is apparent throughout.

"It has been running for a year now, and we have had standing ovations every night.

"The music makes you laugh and cry - it's quite a journey."

The show at The Forum on Sunday March 5 starts at 7.30pm, and tickets are available from the venue's box office.
