AN artist from Ulverston will be showcasing his latest works in a solo exhibition opening next weekend.
Tim Leeson's Plastic Passion show will be held at the Signature Gallery, in Kendal, from Saturday June 9 to Saturday July 14.
Following a successful retrospective exhibition at the gallery earlier this year, the former Kendal resident is back in the town with a selection of recent pieces.
Tim believes art should be challenging and feels he can make the viewer think about their own preconceptions of art and maybe nudge them gently into the thought that abstract art can be equally, or even more valid than traditional ways of creating and seeing in. By giving the viewer less information in his paintings and drawings, the harder they have to work at coming up with an interpretation.
The work featured is his response to current trends in art.
Inspired by Cubism, German Expressionism and de Stilj, and especially the work of Mondrian, the artist believes if balance is found in the art it also gives the artist balance in life.
Tim founded South Lakes Arts Collective in April 2016, with the aim of promoting more up-to-date, contemporary art practice in the local area.
