SOUTH Cumbria's premier folk festival returns next month, with three days of live music, dance performances and workshops.

The Lake District Folk Weekend takes over Staveley village, near Kendal, from Friday August 3 to Sunday 5, having become a firm fixture in the calendar in recent years.

Concerts are held on the Friday and Saturday evenings in The River Bar above the Hawkshead Brewery's Beer Hall, where more music will be on offer during the festival. The Village Hall hosts a concert on Friday and ceilidh on Saturday.

These concerts are supplemented by dozens of performances in the village pub and cafes. Workshops, singarounds and sessions in the brewery, pavilion and Eagle and Child allow all visitors to get involved.

Morris sides will perform in the village throughout the weekend.

The full list of performers for this year's festival has been revealed.
