IAN and Christine already knew they wanted to move when a house in the same street as their son was living in came on the market.

They liked being close to family and it also had a really big sunny back yard. Having brought up three children, they still liked to keep busy and their new home gave them plenty of room to follow their hobbies without ever cluttering up the living space inside.

The house - 75 Devon Street, Barrow - is in a popular residential location and is offered for sale in immaculate condition. The property is made up of a forecourt, entrance hall, lounge diner, conservatory and kitchen. To the first floor are two bedrooms and a separate access from the landing to the bathroom. To the back of the property is an extremely attractive seating area with sunny aspect and the additional advantage of a log cabin and a workshop, both with power and light.

Asked what they have had done to the house which they moved into four years ago, Christine and Ian happily says “everything”.

She explained: “We had a new roof put on last year, a new kitchen and bathroom installed, lovely new doors and windows, a lovely fireplace in the lounge, part boarded out the loft and also added a new conservatory on to the back of the house.

"Despite this we still have such a good-sized back yard which gets plenty of sun and the whole house itself is really light. It really is a little oasis, especially as it is in such a quiet area.”

The lounge diner is a very welcoming place to sit in, with double-glazed patio doors leading out to the conservatory where the couple have spent so much time.

The kitchen, with its oak-fronted wall and base cupboards and marble effect work surfaces, also has a built-in fridge freezer and a handy understairs storage cupboard.

It also has its own door leading out to the back patio. The house has a really handy family bathroom with both a bath and separate shower cubicle, as well as a bath, over shower hose.

Despite the light and welcoming living space inside, Christine has spent a lot of time in the back yard, even in winter.

She added: “I enjoy doing quite a lot of craft work, making cards and sewing, and the cabin is where I keep all my bits and pieces for them.

“It has a double glazed window, lighting and four power points, and it is so warm. In the winter I sometimes need a small heater, but never in the summer.

“Our grandchildren also enjoy playing in it.

“The workshop, which also has power, is for Ian and has its own double door access to the seating area.

“Outside in the yard there is a really attractive enclosed paving seating area which gets plenty of sun, as well as raised flowerbeds, a water tap and security lighting.

“It is a long street, but very quiet and the neighbours are so friendly. People say hello to you in the street.

“This is going to be a really hard house to replace, but our son is moving and after having lived here for four years we are looking for a new project.”
